Content & IP Compliance
How Optio handles intellectual property in AI-generated content.
Optio creates original interactive fiction. AI assists with genre suggestions, world-building labels, and story prose. This page summarises how we reduce intellectual-property risk. It is not legal advice.
Original stories first
Worlds and novels on Optio are meant to be new stories — new characters, names, and plots invented during play. The AI is instructed not to reproduce copyrighted characters, dialogue, or storylines from books, films, games, or comics.
Genre labels and public-domain traditions
Suggested genres and sub-genres use descriptive language (e.g. military sci-fi, cosmic horror, gothic mystery). Public-domain literary traditions — such as Lovecraftian cosmic horror or classical myth — may inspire tone, not verbatim copying of modern commercial works.
Example: "Lovecraftian cosmic horror in space" is acceptable as a mood label. Trademarked product names (e.g. tabletop RPG titles) and major franchise brands are avoided in suggestions.
Automated guardrails
System prompts for Architect suggestions, blueprints, and Living Novel narration include rules to avoid trademarked franchise names and copyrighted character or setting names. OpenAI's usage policies also apply to generated content.
There is no separate legal scanner on every output — compliance relies on prompt design, provider policies, and user acceptable-use terms.
Your responsibility
Do not use Optio to request reproduction of protected works or to generate illegal content. See our Terms of Service.
